How this started
It wasn't a business idea. It was a chore we couldn't stand.
For years, the worst part of running the shop had nothing to do with cars. It was the stack of invoices by the register — every part we ordered, typed into Shopmonkey by hand.
We added it up once: about fifteen hours a month, gone to data entry. And one fat-fingered cost could quietly wreck the numbers on a job we thought we'd priced right.
So we built a tool to do the typing for us.
What surprised us was everything else it fixed. The moment an invoice scans in, the parts show as arrived — so the service writer doesn't walk back to parts to check, and the job starts sooner. Inventory takes care of itself too: parts for a job, or a straight stock order with no repair order at all — received, counted and priced, with nobody adjusting it by hand. Anything it's unsure about waits for us to check. It never guesses.
We've trusted it with our own books long enough to share it. We call it Brian's Paper Eliminator.
